Resending a client's portal link

The client portal is where your clients book, see their packages, and manage their own appointments. They get in through a link you send by text. This article is about sending it again — which you'll do more often than you'd expect, and which is completely safe.

When to resend

  • A client says they can't log in, or can't find the link
  • The welcome text bounced, or they deleted it
  • You want them to have a fresh one in hand before a class

The link goes by SMS to the phone number on their record.

Why you can resend freely

A fresh link does not invalidate the old one. Sending another is idempotent — it has no destructive effect, nothing is revoked, and nothing breaks if the client later finds the first message and taps that instead.

That's why resending doesn't ask you to confirm. There's no version of this that goes wrong, so it doesn't need a safety gate. If a client is stuck, resend and move on.

When it won't work

No phone number on file. There's nowhere to send it. Add their number first — see adding your first clients for editing a profile.

More than one client matches the name. Confirm which person you mean before sending. Two clients with the same first name is common, and sending a portal link to the wrong one isn't harmful but isn't helpful either.

Common questions

I've sent it three times and they still can't get in. Check the phone number on the record is actually theirs and is current. If the number is right and the texts aren't arriving, the problem is delivery rather than the link — contact support with the client's name.

Does the client need a password? The portal link is how they get in. There's no separate password for you to reset.

Can I send several clients their links at once? Not through this. Resending is one client at a time, on purpose. For a message to a group, use broadcasts.
